Victorian design inspired the style of this unique Tear Bottle. An intricate antiqued silver filigree pattern of flowers and leaves wraps around the clear glass bottle and also covers the cap. Each cap has a silicon plug, providing a tight seal.
This Silver Victorian tear bottle has an optional matching 2" silver metal tray.
The tear bottle tradition has historically been a mourning tradition. They symbolize an intensely personal gift in remembrance of a loved one. Tear bottles were fairly common in Roman times, when mourners filled small glass vials or bottles with tears and placed them in burial tombs as symbols of love and respect.

This is a gorgeous piece but small. Was difficult to get ashes into but I managed, and the plug on the topper is tricky to get back in. -

My son chose this tear bottle, as it was his favorite. I thought that a tear bottle would be a symbolic way to express our tears and heart wrenching sadness at the sudden and unexpected loss of my husband and their father. We will be interring his remains in a glass niche with this and a few other items.
