Affordable Urns for Tight Budgets

Planning a funeral or memorial service can be expensive, which is one reason more people are choosing cremation over in-ground burial each year. Even with the cost savings of cremation, if you're faced with tight budget constraints, there are other ways to reduce funeral expenses, and one is to look for an affordable urn online. Buying your urn from a funeral home or mortuary usually means you're paying much more than you should.

How to Find Inexpensive Cremation Urns

One of the key components of the price of a cremation urn is the materials used in its design. Sculptural urns tend to be on the high end because they're made from cold-cast resin with hand-painted, intricate details while urns of simpler construction are less expensive. So, to find cheap urns, look for urns made with these inexpensive materials:

  • Wooden urns – Woods like mahogany, cedar, and walnut are beautiful but their scarcity makes them a costly material. Composite wood, which mixes leftover wood shavings and resin tends to be a good material for low-cost urns. In addition to having a better price, these urns are beneficial because, unlike real wood, they will not expand or warp over time with varying climate changes like moisture and temperature. If left in extreme elements, natural wood urns can crack over time. One more thing to consider is that wooden urns that are made in the USA, or handmade, are more expensive than imported manufactured urns.
  • Metal urns – Metals like aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper tend to make beautiful but inexpensive urns for ashes. However, the costs of many metals have increased in the last year due to supply chain disruptions, which has resulted in higher prices. Still, compared to sculptural urns, metal is quite a bit less expensive.
  • Biodegradable urns– Among the cheap urns for human ashes you can consider are biodegradable urns. These are perfect for temporary resting places, but because they are made of recycled paper materials, they are not the best option for long-term in-home display. If you're not planning to put them in the ground or scatter your loved one's ashes, these affordable urns should be replaced when finances are less of an issue.
  • Clearance urns– Occasionally, you can find lovely urns on clearance or as overstock items. There is nothing wrong with them; most likely, they were made in a style that has lost popularity.

Whether you're searching for cheap cremation urns for adults, children, or even pets, keeping these four options in mind will help you find affordable urns to fit any budget. If you have any questions about our offerings, please get in touch with us, and we'll be happy to help.
