Urn Sizing & Filling

The size of the urn matters, especially if you are hoping to keep all the ashes in one place. The urn's outside dimensions are 5-1/2" W x 10-1/2" H x 5-1/2" D and an inside capacity of 200 cubic inches. This urn will hold the cremains of a pet with a healthy weight of 200 lbs (90.7 kg) or less, making it suitable for most single dogs or may accomodate more than one. Due to the anticipated extra space within the urn, we recommend adding your pets favorite toy, their collar or tags to keep with them forever.

Filling the urn is easy. We recommend keeping the cremains inside of a plastic bag and placing the full bag in to the urn. Many families may also choose to put the bag of cremains inside of an optional velvet bag as an added layer of protection. You may choose from one of our 9 available colors above. The urn comes with a threaded lid that can be secured shut once the ashes are placed inside.

Personalizing Your Pet's Urn

To personalize the urn, you may choose an optional wood rectangle-shaped urn pendant. If you choose text only engraving, you may add up to four lines with 20 characters on each line. You may also choose to add color photo engraving to the other side the pendant, including your favorite photograph of your hunting companion. The engraved pendant will hang around the neck of the urn with a provided matching leather cord. The heart pendant is 1-3/16" W x 1-7/8" H x 1/8" D.

Displaying & Storing Your Urn

The Fall Birch Hunting Dog Urn may be displayed in your home, stored in a columbarium or niche, or buried. If you plan to display this urn in your home or within a columbarium, an outside the urn bag may be a good option to prevent any scratches to the urns finish and to act as a dust cover. If you plan to bury this urn, it is vital that a burial container be used to protect the urn and its contents. Direct burial is not advised. You should check with your burial location to determine specific guidelines they may have but a burial container should be used in all burial instances.
